CICN research brings innovative insights into the use of natural food supplements for stress management
A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study evaluated the effects of red ginseng (Panax ginseng) supplementation on moderately stressed adults.
For three weeks, 149 male and female participants received :
- either 200 mg/day of ginseng (containing 24 mg of ginsenosides),
- or a placebo
The results showed a significant reduction in perceived stress (PSS) and negative affect (PANAS) in participants in the ginseng group.
In addition, the latter showed improved cognitive reactivity in a spatial planning test, confirming the positive effects of ginseng on cognition and emotional well-being.
This study confirms the potential of natural approaches to complement conventional treatments for stress disorders.
It also paves the way for future research into the mechanisms of action of these extracts and their long-term safety.
