Visit to Lhoist in Hemalle

The Louvain Research and !nnovation Centre for Sustainable Process Engineering (ReC!PE) organized together with Lhoist a visit on 26/06/2026 to the plant of Lhoist in Hermalle, who is a global producer of lime, dolime, and mineral-based solutions.

A total of 14 bachelor, master, PhD students and postdocs and 2 professors participated in the visit, led by Dr. Johan Heinzwolf and his colleagues of Lhoist. The visit was incredible, including the querry, kilns, control room, laboratories and even a demonstration of the exothermic reaction of lime in contact with water.
