Three ELI researchers have been named Highly Cited Researchers in 2023.

Éric Lambin, Bas van Wesemael and Patrick Meyfroidt from ELIC.  Congratulations!

Éric Lambin is professor at the Earth and Life Institute and the Faculty of Science.  In his research he studies pathways that allows communities to develop while preserving nature. He pays particular attention to agricultural systems, land degradation, globalised distribution circuits and environmental governance. Éric Lambin is also a professor at Stanford University (USA).

Patrick Meyfroidt is professor at the Earth and Life Institute and the Faculty of Science. As geographer and sociologist, he studies the interactions between human society and the environment, focussing mainly on the impact of land use changes on societies.

Bas van Wesemael is professor at the Earth and Life Institute and the Faculty of Science and  is a specialist in soil and climate change. His team is involved in the '4 for 1000' initiative - Soils for Food Security and Climate - which aims to increase the carbon content of soils by 0.4%, enough to limit the increase in CO2 in the atmosphere and boost food security.
