The CEMO Division and the Louvain Drug Research Institute are pleased to invite you to the conference, given by Pr François NOËL,  entitled:

“Creation of the SCREENER and DiscoveRx educational games for interactive learning about the drug discovery and development process”

Pr. François Noël:
Laboratório de Farmacologia Bioquímica e Molecular, Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas-ICB,
Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

This event will take place on Monday September, 8th at 12:00 in the Room Couvreur 73-0 (LEW)

Abstract:
Serious games are becoming increasingly popular for teaching scientific concepts, as they are considered important tools for active learning. In the first part of the seminar, we will present the SCREENER board and card game, designed by a multidisciplinary group from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro to address the lack of educational tools aimed at training master's and doctoral students in the process of drug discovery and development. This game has been validated and distributed by the Brazilian Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (Noël et al., Braz. J. Med. Biol. Res. 54:e11786, 2021; 57:e13258, 2024), and the results of its application in eleven postgraduate programmes indicate a high satisfaction rate.

In the second part, we will present our second game on the same theme, DiscoveRx, this time designed for scientific outreach to a non-specialist audience, particularly teenagers. This game is available in four languages (Portuguese, English, Spanish and French) and can be downloaded free of charge on mobile devices. (Castañeda Hernández et al., Lat. Am. J. Clin. Sci. Med. Technol. 5:1-1.168-169, 2023).
