Research seminar by Paavo Ritala from LUT University

How to develop meaningful research on AI in organization and management field.

Artificial intelligence has quickly become one of the hottest topics in management and organization studies. Yet much of the emerging literature is fragmented, metaphor-driven, and prone to anthropomorphism and assumptions of superior rationality. In this talk, Paavo Ritala uses his recent Journal of Management Studies article as a starting point to reflect on how management and organizational scholars can publish stronger, more impactful work on AI. He will discuss how to frame research questions, avoid conceptual traps, and contribute to theory development and empirical work in ways that resonate with leading journals. Drawing on examples from his other recent publications around AI topics, the talk provides practical insights into succeeding in the publication process while advancing the scholarly conversation on AI in organizations.
