To produce microporous membranes, cyclotron-accelerated beams of Argon, Krypton and Xenon are used to bombard the polymer films and generate traces.
The bombarded films are then immersed in a chemical bath to reveal the holes.
The applications of these membranes are varied :
- cell biology
- microscopy
- filtration
- etc.
