Main themes
Based on contemporary debates in Europe on political and social “values” and “principles”, the course presents several thematic paths, notably on the ideas of freedom, democracy, equality, law, exchange and the individual, in order to contribute to the theoretical foundations specific to European studies. Particular attention will be paid to the critical dialogue between the history of ideals developed in Europe and their implementation over time in institutional and political achievements.

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to : | |

2 | Critique the uses and misuses of ideas in contemporary debates. |
3 | Analyze the theoretical issues and historical tensions of different thematic currents in Europe, and their relationship with the rest of the world. |
