The aim of this seminar is to engage students in a critical and reflective approach to the opportunities and challenges posed by artificial intelligence in general and in relation to our studies in particular.  
  • The concepts of intelligence and artificial intelligence  
  • Cognitive' technologies: from expert systems to deep learning, and the fields of application.  
  • The place of artistic creation in the face of artificial intelligence.  
  • The notion of authorship.  
  • The notion of authenticity.  
  • AI and confirmation bias. 
Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1 To define, delimit and analyse the concept of Artificial Intelligence using a critical approach.
 
2 Understand the impact of artificial intelligence on the fields of artistic thought and creation and the human sciences.
 
Teaching methods
Lectures given online alternating with in-class hands-on workshops. In case of worsening of the health situation, the workshops will also be transferred online.
Evaluation methods
Contribution to a collaborative project--in digital document and data analysis, critical editing, and publishing--together with other students enrolled in the course and directed by the instructor. Active participation in the online event presenting the project(s) at the end of the quadrimester.
