Prerequisites
Skills in literary analysis, knowledge of the history of French-language literature and the main theories of literature
Main themes
This seminar has the same objectives as LFRA2710, Spécificité du discours littéraire: théorie et analyse, but its main aim is to encourage students to export and personally apply the tools offered in the course.
It focuses on literary modernity and seeks to consider, on the one hand, the relationship between literature and society in the context of the autonomy of the work and, on the other hand, the literary experience as an exploration of the complexity of language.
Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1 Situate the theories aimed at defining literary modernity and the relationship between literature and language;

2 Analyse a literary work from the point of view of the effects it produces as a discourse;

3 Write a reasoned analysis of a literary work and present it in accordance with academic requirements.

This learning unit contributes to the development and command of the following skills and learning outcomes of the ELAL programmes (ELAL learning outcomes).

Content
The seminar propone an introduction to personal research and as preparation for the dissertation, in its various phases (analysis, problematisation, validation, writing). The seminar focuses on a specific issue, which changes from year to year.
Teaching methods
The thematics are specified at the beginning of each academic year. They are set out by the teacher during the first work sessions. On this basis, the students carry out a research project that culminates in an oral presentation, followed by a written report that resumes the results of the pooling of findings.
Evaluation methods
It covers the oral presentation, the written report and participation in the group research project. These three conditions must be met in order to pass the exam. Attendance at the seminar is therefore essential. Any work not submitted or submitted late will result in failure.
Other information
Active participation in the seminar is essential.
Generative artificial intelligence (AI) must be used responsibly and in accordance with the practices of academic and scientific integrity. Scientific integrity requires that sources be cited, and the use of AI must always be reported. The use of artificial intelligence for tasks where it is explicitly forbidden will be considered as cheating.
