Main themes
The Seminar on Integrated Report Support aims to guide students in reflecting on their teaching practice through professional development tools such as the portfolio. This reflective analysis will complement the one conducted during the supervision of the long-term internship.
Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

  • Describe, problematize, and analyze language teaching and learning situations based on theoretical resources from the program’s teaching units.
  • Conceptualize and, if possible, implement and evaluate a didactic proposal to address or improve an identified teaching-learning issue.
Contribution of the Teaching Unit to the Program's Competency Framework
In accordance with the program's learning outcomes framework, this teaching unit contributes to the development and acquisition of the following learning outcomes:
(4°) The competencies of the reflective practitioner.
These competencies are demonstrated through the following abilities:
a) Critically reading research findings in modern language didactics and education and drawing on them for teaching practice, as well as leveraging various human sciences disciplines to analyze and act in professional situations;
b) Conducting, individually and collaboratively, a rigorous and critical observation and analysis of one’s own teaching practices and their impact on students in order to adjust teaching methods and improve implementation strategies for greater effectiveness and equity;
c) Gradually constructing one’s professional identity, notably by using professional development tools such as the portfolio.
 
Content
 Reflection on the professional identity of language teachers  
  • Critical analysis of teaching and learning situations in an ecological context (language classroom) with a clear integration of links between teaching and research in the field. 
  • Integration of technologies, including AI tools, to enrich language teaching 
  • Use of a portfolio (specific portfolio to be defined) 
Work to be completed: reflective portfolio:
The portfolio will include:
  • Reflections on professional identity as a modern language teacher.
  • Critical analyses of observed or implemented teaching sequences.
  • A self-assessment of acquired skills.
  • A discussion of the links between teaching and research in the field of modern languages.
