Content
The course in Specialised Audiovisual Translation (AVT) offers an in-depth exploration of the main AVT modalities, including subtitling, surtitling, dubbing, voice-over, subtitling for the deaf and hard of hearing (SDH), and audio description. Students will work with or without scripts, template files, or pivot templates. Practical exercises, carried out using EZTitles©, will focus on larger-scale projects and address the rendering of cultural references, humour, and linguistic variety. The course will also provide a critical study of the history, typology, and formatting conventions associated with different AVT practices. Recent research topics—such as creative subtitling, machine translation and post-editing, and cloud-based collaborative tools—will be examined with respect to their impact on quality and workflows. Finally, attention will be given to the professional ecosystem (project management, client relations, specialised platforms, quality assurance) as well as to ethical issues (crowdsourcing, fansubbing, online software, artificial intelligence).

Evaluation methods
Students will receive personalised feedback throughout the semester as well as a final assessment consisting of a practical assignment and a test to validate theoretical knowledge. The assessment will be weighted 50% for the practical assignment and 50% for the theoretical test.
For the August/September resit session, an individual assignment will be required.
The use of generative AI is tolerated within this course. However, students must systematically indicate any sections produced with AI, in line with academic referencing standards.
