Prerequisites
Students must have level B2 in English or taken the course LANGS1203 (English Objective B2 SOCA HUSO SPOL) or another equivalent course corresponding to Level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
Main themes
The topics covered are selected in line with the learning outcomes of the programme and the communicative needs as defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) for the target level (B2+).
They cover specialised communication situations relating to the fields and professions of social sciences and humanities, sociology and anthropology, political science, such as sustainable development and transition.

Content
As far as the program is concerned, the set-up is 45 hours a year.
Nine units will be covered, with themes either directly or indirectly linked to Social, Human and Political Sciences. There is a focus on sustainable development, transition, and the SDGs, as well as on EDI.
- The rhythm will be eleven 120-minute sessions in Q1
- followed by eleven 120-minute sessions in Q2.

120-minute classes in groups of maximum 25 students.

Continuous assessment (certificative and formative) :

- essay-writing and graph descriptions
- classroom participation (press reviews)

- 250 points to be accumulated throughout the academic year
- 85 points going to Q1 activities
- and 115 going to Q2 activities (a total of 200 marks going to continuous assessment)
- the May oral exam is worth 50 marks
- the results obtained in Q1 (out of 85 marks) will be accumulated with the results obtained in Q2 (out of 165 marks)
Other information
The student loses 25 % of their grade if they are absent from class more than twice per term without any form of justification, i.e., 12.5 % per term.
