At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

  • LO4. Communicate and collaborate in French and two foreign languages, both orally and in writing, while adapting to the audience and context to integrate into an international environment.
    • LO4.2. For 2 foreign languages (English and Dutch, German, or Spanish):
      • Communicate orally and in writing in a clear, coherent, well-argued, and fluent manner on general topics or subjects related to the field of study.Identify differences and similarities between the target culture (associated with the language) and the culture of origin.
      • Use appropriate strategies to establish contact with speakers of the target culture.
    • LO4.4. Adopt an effective and respectful dialogue attitude by adjusting the communication mode according to the interlocutor (peers, teachers, administrative staff, socio-professional environment) and demonstrating listening skills, empathy, and assertiveness.

  • understand the main points of a clear standard speech or a familiar variety on familiar topics regularly encountered at work, school, or during leisure time, including short narratives. 
 
Reading Comprehension (general) – B1 
  • read clear factual texts on subjects related to their field and interests with a satisfactory level of understanding. 
 
Spoken Production (general) – B1 
  • carry out fairly easily a straightforward, uncomplicated description on a variety of topics within their field, presenting it as a linear sequence of points. 
 
Spoken Interaction (general) – B1 
  • flexibly use a wide range of simple language to deal with most situations likely to arise while travelling.
  • enter unprepared into conversations on familiar topics, express personal opinions, and exchange information on familiar topics of personal interest or relevant to everyday life (e.g. family, hobbies, work, travel, and current events). 
 
Written Production (general) – A2+ 
  • produce a series of simple phrases and sentences linked with basic connectors such as “and,” “but,” and “because.” 
 
Written Interaction (general) – B1 
  • write notes and messages to request or convey simple information of immediate relevance and make the points they consider important understandable. 
 
General Linguistic Competence – B1 
Has enough linguistic resources to get by, and sufficient vocabulary to express themselves with some hesitation and circumlocution on topics such as family, hobbies and interests, work, travel, and current events; however, limited vocabulary leads to repetition and sometimes even difficulties in formulation.
