Learning outcomes

You are a legal professional or work in the legal field. This training will enable you to :

  1. Understand the impact of digital transformation and the increasing use of digital technologies in various branches of law and the challenges that these technologies pose to the legal profession (e.g. online prosecution and evidence gathering, drafting of IT contracts, innovative product liability, compliance planning for data processing, use of LegalTech);
     
  2. Mobilize your legal skills in the context of digital and technological developments. For example, you will be able to:
    1. acquire advanced skills for drafting and managing research contracts, assignment/licensing, etc.
    2. or optimize the management of intellectual property rights and innovation from a tax perspective.
       
  3. Reflect on some of the ethical issues raised by digitalization, artificial intelligence and robotization (e.g. the issues raised by the sharing of health data or the use of facial recognition)

 
Note: for lawyers, the training is approved by the OBFG (Order of the French- and German-speaking Bars of Belgium) and can be valued at 60 points.
 
You are a communicator, marketing manager, community manager... This training will enable you to :

  1. Evaluate and manage the risks (legal risks in particular) linked to the communication of content and the use of digital tools, whether in a private or public organization;
  2. Learn how to manage a portfolio of intellectual rights on communication content (acquisition, renewal, transfer, etc.) and how to comply with the requirements to communicate (e.g. regarding advertising or personal data processing). For example, you will be able to:
    1. ensure the freedom of exploitation of a technique or the availability of a trademark and be alerted to certain potential pitfalls in your negotiations;
    2. understand the privacy and security requirements for designers of information campaigns and/or technologies (e.g. apps).

If you fall into this profile category, you could choose, for example, the Information and Communication Law and Intellectual Property Law courses.
 
You are a management engineer, an IT professional, a business manager... This training will enable you to :

  • Acquire and use legal skills to complement a training and job in organization management (e.g. to optimize contractual negotiation within a company or with third parties)
  • Acquire and use legal skills to define and implement an innovation management strategy in a company or research center (acquisition, renewal, transfer of an intellectual right, techniques for drafting a patent or negotiating a contract, etc.);
  • Learn how to manage and optimize a portfolio of intellectual rights and other intangible assets from a tax point of view;
  • Assess and manage the risks associated with the use of new digital tools (e.g. managing a computer attack on a system critical to the functioning of an organization).
