Strengths of the teaching approach 

  • Job-focused training and learning arrangements that combine theoretical aspects with interpreting practice.  

Learning is interactive and progressive until the level required for conference interpreters is reached. 
The course focuses on technological developments and the ethics of the profession.
The various internships carried out in the second year of the Master's programme provide opportunities to put into practice and optimise what has been learnt.  
Several times a year, the teaching team organises simulated multilingual conferences that reproduce real working conditions.
Students are strongly encouraged to form working groups in which they can develop the collegiality and team spirit necessary for the interpreting profession. 
The dissertation provides an opportunity to develop a scientific approach combined with a rigorous methodology that will be invaluable to graduates in their professional practice and continuing education.
These combined methods ensure that graduates have both cutting-edge expertise and a highly versatile profile.

 

  • A variety of teaching strategies 

Teaching approaches are diversified and adapted to the different skills to be developed: lectures, exercise sessions, individual work, seminars, simulations of professional situations, work placements. 
This variety of situations enables knowledge to be built up and skills to be developed progressively and regularly through daily practice of the techniques essential to the interpreting profession.
LSTI has the most modern technological tools available, as well as state-of-the-art interpreting rooms equipped with simultaneous interpreting booths that meet professional requirements. The simultaneous interpreting rooms are available to students outside class hours so that they can practise independently.
