1. Piccolo (BETA): UCLouvain's Institutional Platform
BETA Version: The tool is currently accessible only to select faculties (FSM, FIAL, EPL, LSM, DRT). Their feedback is essential for prioritizing upcoming features.
Piccolo is the generative AI platform developed by UCLouvain for its community. Free for all and accessible with your UCLouvain credentials, this tool ensures secure and evolving usage.
In 2026, Piccolo will enable instructors to import their teaching materials and create virtual coaches accessible to their students. These coaches will have clear instructions created by instructors for specific activities (providing structured feedback based on your teaching materials, or providing clear information on internships etc.).
Why use Piccolo in the long term?
- UCLouvain does not use your data to train AI models (LLMs)
- Conversation data remains on UCLouvain servers and is encrypted. No one has access to it.
- Piccolo has in 3 development stages:
- A simple tool initially for those new to generative AI
- More complex and precise uses (chatting with documents, interacting with virtual coaches, web search)
- More UCLouvain-specific features next year (such as interacting with information from UCLouvain databases)
- Visible AI consumption tracking through an AI credit system

2. Wooflash: Study with Interactive Cards and AI-Generated Questions
Wooflash is an interactive learning tool that uses AI to help you review and memorize your courses. This tool has been available to all UCLouvain students since November 2022.
What you can do:
- Automatically generate questions from your course materials (PDFs, slides, notes)
- Review with flashcards adapted to your progress
- Test your knowledge with interactive quizzes
- Import your instructors' content and create your own study paths

3. Copilot Chat: Your Assistant within Microsoft Tools
Copilot chat, Microsoft's conversational agent, is accessible to the entire UCLouvain community (students, administrative staff, teachers, researchers).
