Launched in 2015, the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) serve as a global blueprint for sustainability. In 2018, Antwerp Management School, the University of Antwerp, and UCLouvain—supported by the Federal Institute for Sustainable Development (FIDO/IFDD)—launched the first SDG Barometer to evaluate SDG adoption across Belgium. Published biennially, the report assesses the degree of SDG integration within Belgian organizations.

The findings of the 2026 report were presented on October 13 at the SDG Forum (available only in Englsih).

Grounding its analysis in a case-based reasoning approach, the 2026 SDGs Belgian Barometer investigates how Belgian organizations operationalize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) over time. By examining real-world trajectories, implementation hurdles, emerging practices, and institutional lessons, the research explores what happens when sustainability ambitions meet daily organizational realities. The empirical foundation builds on a diverse cohort of 20 Belgian organizations across Flanders and Wallonia, comprising 14 for-profit enterprises and 6 non-profit entities of varying scales.

Given the qualitative design of this study, the findings should be read as actionable, practice-based insights into organizational dynamics rather than a statistically representative mapping of the Belgian landscape.

The main findings are summarized in the executive summary. The full report can be consulted here.
