Congratulations to Laure Elens and collaborators (Laure Bindels, Serge Moudio, Vincent Haufroid and Michel Mourad).
The Belgian jury of the Biocodex Microbiota Foundation has selected their project as the winner of the third edition of the Belux BMF grant.
The project is entitled "Impact of gut Microbiome on MPA pharmacokinetics in Kidney Transplantation (IMPAKT Study)" and focuses on the study of the gut human microbiome and its relationship with immunosuppressive pharmacotherapy in stable renal transplant patients.
Justification for this selection:
- Original novel concept of role of microbiome on pharmacokinetics of immunosuppressive agents such as MPA
- Multidisciplinary project with collaboration with Prof Bindels for isolation of bacteria and co-cultures; collaboration with clinics on kidney transplant patients
- Feasible project where results are anticipated by the authors after one year
- Young but promising scientist
