Prof Lisa Vanhala is a Professor in Political Science at the Department of Political Science, University College London. Professor Vanhala's work explores the phenomenon of legal mobilization exploring both human rights and equality as well as climate change environmentalism. Her first book Making Rights a Reality? Disability Rights Activists and Legal Mobilization won the Socio-legal Studies Association Early Career Prize and the Best Book in Comparative Politics of the Canadian Political Science Association. Her current, European Research Council Starting Grant project (1.4 million euros), The Politics and Governance of Climate Change Loss and Damage (CCLAD), explores attempts to grapple with issues of responsibility and liability for climate change at the global and national level. Her work on legal mobilization has been published in Law & Society Review, Comparative Political Studies and Law & Policy. Her work on loss and damage and climate litigation has been published in Environmental Politics, Global Environmental Politics, Global Environmental Change and WIRES Climate Change.
