Ready for an alloy that repairs itself and reshapes large-scale additive manufacturing?

We are excited to announce the launch of the European M-ERA.NET 2025 research project STITCHING: Starring Innovative Treatments for Component Healing with New Grade-aluminium alloy.
STITCHING explores how complex flow instabilities, such as the coiling of viscous threads, can be harnessed to create structured metallic materials with entirely new properties. The ambition: transform dynamic fluid phenomena into controlled architectures, paving the way for self-organising, adaptive and potentially self-repairing materials.
At the crossroads of fluid mechanics, materials science and advanced manufacturing, the project aims to unlock new design principles for the next generation of large-scale additive manufacturing.
Congratulations to Prof. Aude Simar and the entire team on this achievement!
