The aim of the course is to study the results of recent research into the teaching of content in foreign languages (CLIL/EMI/immersive).
A more practical part will be devoted to field analysis and the reading of scientific articles on research and methodology in content teaching in foreign languages (CLIL/EMI/immersive).
Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1 Critically analyze the results of recent research on the theme of the course;

2 Develop a learning sequence based on an integrated approach to subjects and the foreign language;

3 Critically analyze sequences developed by other teachers.

This teaching unit contributes to the development and mastery of the following skills and knowledge from the School of Languages and Arts syllabus (see ELAL AA table).

Content
The seminars will focus on CLIL research. Students will be expected to read scholarly articles (written in different languages), prepare appropriate teaching materials, conduct classroom observations and critically review existing practices.
Teaching methods
Flipped classroom, attendance of workshops on CLIL teaching methods, observation of CLIL classes, and reading of recent scholarly articles on CLIL teaching.
Evaluation methods
  • Attendance and active participation in seminars, including various presentations and intermediate assignments (20%);
  • Individual written work (report and analysis of observations in CLIL classes or presentation of a CLIL learning sequence) (30%);
  • Oral exam (50%).
Students who fail will have to retake an oral exam in August/September, which will then count for the entire grade. A written assignment may be required in preparation for the oral exam.
Generative Artificial Intelligences (AI) must be used responsibly and in accordance with the principles of academic and scientific integrity. Since scientific integrity requires sources to be cited, any use of AI must always be acknowledged. The use of artificial intelligence for tests and examinations is strictly prohibited and will be considered an act of cheating.
