Chaire Candriam en Economie circulaire
lourim | Louvain-la-Neuve, Mons
The depletion of resources and the inefficient management of waste are among the primary concerns of the international community due to their significant and costly impact on the economy, civil society, and the ecosystem. Decision-makers and investors recognize that current economic models must incorporate a stronger circular dimension to optimize the management of the world's limited natural resources. Currently, only 8.6% of the global economy is circular, highlighting numerous investment opportunities.
In this context, one of the key priorities of the UCLouvain Chair is to educate students on the characteristics of the circular economy and to strengthen their ability to think and act according to this new economic model. Additionally, this partnership aims to develop several projects, including:
- The creation of a PhD program specializing in key impact indicators within the field of the circular economy.
- A comprehensive analysis of various sectors to identify corporate circular practices and circularity measures.
- The production of reports on the circular economy and collaboration with Candriam’s
- Environmental Advisory Committee.
- The creation of a Circular Economy Barometer to measure progress in this field within companies.
This partnership is led by Professor Yves De Rongé of the Louvain School of Management at UCLouvain, in collaboration with Wim Van Hyfte, Global Head of ESG Investments and Research at CANDRIAM.
