A new phase in meiosis
libst | Louvain-la-Neuve
In a paper published in Nature, LIBST member Corentin Claeys Bouuaert and colleagues demonstrate that the formation of DNA double-strand breaks during meiosis involves the condensation of its enzymatic machinery on DNA through a process known as phase separation. The work leads to new insights into the mechanism of meiotic double-strand break formation, which initiates the recombination program that reshuffles parental chromosomes during gametogenesis, driving genetic diversity and evolution.
