L'association des maladies infectieuses à l'environnement et en particulier à l'utilisation du sol est connue depuis longtemps, mais le contexte du changement environnemental global dans toutes ses dimensions d'une part, et la fréquence de même que, parfois, la gravité des événements de (ré)émergence ont suscité en ce début de 20ème siècle un regain d'intérêt pour ces questions. D'autre part, il devient évident, dans un monde de plus en plus urbanisé, que les contacts avec la nature se révèlent indispensables à la santé et au bien-être.
Nos recherches visent à améliorer notre compréhension des dimensions multifactorielles, à l'interface entre sociétés humaines et environnement, de la santé. Les nouveaux défis liés à un monde de plus en plus urbanisé, à la production agricole, à la conservation des écosystèmes
