Dark Matter is a type of matter that can't be observe directly by standard methods but which is predicted by a variety of astrophysical observations. Several Theories try to explain these predictions either by introducing correction to existing theories or by proposing new components of the universe with specific features. Naturally, a lot of experiments are testing these new theories. In particular, the recent development of gravitational astronomy (the observation of highly energetic astrophysical and cosmological systems though their emission of gravitational waves) open a new area for the search of dark matter by allowing us to probe in unexplored territories.
Several theories trying to explain dark matter propose the existence of new Ultralight Bosons that can be scalar, vector or even tensor. Should such particles exist, it has been shown that they will spontaneously appear by extracting energy from rotating Black Holes through the Superradiance process, which is similar to the Penrose process. This Bose-Enstein condensat, so called Boson Coud, will slowly deplete though the annihilation of the boson causing the emission of Gravitational Waves.
My research is dedicated to the creation and the application of a data analysis method trying to identify Gravitational Waves from Boson Cloud in LIGO and Virgo data.
