Frauke Pipart

Frauke Pipart holds a PhD in Political Science from the UC Louvain. She is a postdoctoral researcher within the Institut de sciences politiques Louvain-Europe (ISPOLE) and is a member of the Centre for European Studies (Centre d'études européennes - CEE). Frauke is a research fellow at the National Fund for Scientific Research (FNRS). Her work focuses on the role of the European Union in international environmental negotiations, including the Convention on Biological Diversity.
Frauke holds a Master degree in European Studies from the University of Louvain and a Bachelor degree in social scieneces from the University of Dusseldorf. Before starting her PhD, Frauke worked as a student assistant at the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom in Brussels.
She fluently speaks German, English and French.
Frauke studies the role of the European Union in international environmental negotiations. She is in particular interested in the EU's ambition, diplomatic activity and influence in these negotiations. The negotiations included in her study are the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions as well as the United Nation Environment Assembly.
Methodologically, Frauke combined quantitative and qualitative research and uses a variety of methods. She conducted her own online survey, observations at international negotiations and a large number of interviews. She uses process-tracing, qualitative comparative analysis and case study designs.
