LSFB : the Sign Language of French-speaking Belgium
Since 2013, the ILV - Language Institute of the UCLouvain has been offering various courses in sign language to UCLouvain Students wishing to discover the language specific to the deaf community in French-speaking Belgium.
Where ?
Courses are held exclusively on the Louvain-la-Neuve campus.
Who ?
Our sign language courses are open to
- UCLouvain students
as part of the PAE (the annual student programme), subject to approval from the ILV teacher, for final approval by the Faculty Select Committee.
- UCLouvain staff members.
Course organisation
We offer three 60-hour modules per year, equivalent to two hours per week throughout the academic year. These are delivered in small groups of up to 15 students.
How to register ?
- Select the course code that corresponds to your level.
- Visit the ILV enrolment page :

- Follow the step-by-step procedure. Please bear in mind that
- for sign language courses, the paper form must be completed and submitted in person to the ILV Teacher during the first LSIGN classes.
- Forms sent by email will not be processed
- This paper form is also essential for UCLouvain staff members ⇢ The form must be submitted to the ILV Secretariat alongside the application for authorisation to enrol.
