Dear UCLouvain community,
I am pleased to address you one last time, on the eve of the second round.
This gives me the opportunity to confirm my commitments to you, as well as my enthusiasm and determination to follow through on them.
My commitments are, first and foremost, those set out in my programme, which I drew up following the methodology and priorities that I felt were relevant.
My commitments are also those expressed during our discussions and debates, as well as the individual meetings that have been organised.
It will be my responsibility to translate these commitments into effective action if I am elected, while respecting the University’s decision-making bodies, which represent the diverse interests of our community. A rector guides, navigates, monitors and represents; he or she does not decide alone. I will also be able to count on the collaboration of a rectoral team that I want to be close-knit, loyal, inclusive and committed, as well as an expert administration.
We are members of an academic institution. It is up to us to finish this campaign in a way that lives up to its aspirations. Given the significance of the stakes and the respect owed to our work and study environment, we must prioritize substance, by focusing attention on the programmes, the analyses that underpin them, and the objectives they have outlined.
Fulfilling this campaign’s purpose also means exercising your right to vote, an essential right in any democratic debate, and one that will give full legitimacy to the person who will represent you in the future.
This campaign has given me the opportunity to meet you and learn more about our University. It has highlighted the wonderful vitality that drives us and gives us the impetus to move forward together. I thank you for your time, interest and proposals. Thanks to you, I feel proud to belong to UCLouvain, and I pledge once again my most sincere commitment to you.
Yours sincerely,
Geneviève Schamps
