Biography:
Saeid Moghassemi is a dedicated professional who has passionately pursued his education in the field of biomedical engineering. He earned both his BSc and MSc degrees in biomedical engineering-biomaterials from the prestigious Amirkabir University of Technology. In early 2020, Saeid embarked on a new academic journey, joining the Catholic University of Louvain to pursue his Ph.D. in Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences under the guidance of Prof. Christiani A. Amorim. Throughout his academic career, Saeid has demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing knowledge in his field. Saeid's research interests are diverse, with a primary focus on Novel Drug Delivery Systems, Bioprinting, Nanomedicine, and Biomaterials for Tissue Engineering applications. His work reflects a keen interest in pushing the boundaries of innovation within the intersection of engineering and healthcare. As a diligent researcher, Saeid has consistently demonstrated a high level of expertise and dedication to his chosen field. His academic achievements and research contributions showcase not only his proficiency in biomedical engineering but also his potential to make significant contributions to the scientific community. With a strong foundation in both academic and practical aspects of biomedical engineering, Saeid Moghassemi is poised to continue his journey as a dynamic professional, contributing valuable insights to the ever-evolving landscape of biomedical research.
Expertise:
My immersion in biomaterials and biomedical engineering has equipped me with a versatile skill set. I have acquired proficiency in a range of advanced physicochemical techniques, encompassing the fabrication of diverse nanoparticles and scaffolds. My expertise extends to the utilization of sophisticated characterization tools such as TEM, SEM, DLS, FTIR, HPLC, and UV-VIS. Proficient in vitro analysis, my expertise extends to cell culture techniques, various cell viability assays, and molecular techniques such as PCR, western blot, immunohistochemical analyses and ELISA. My enthusiasm extends to gaining further experience in cutting-edge areas such as organ-on-a-chip and nanobiotechnology. During my Ph.D., I pioneered a third-generation photosensitizer, leveraging my expertise in nanoparticle fabrication and photodynamic therapy. Employing mathematical modeling, I meticulously optimized nanoparticle formulation. Subsequent validation, biocompatibility assessments, and in-depth in vitro tests on PDT efficiency and cell death types culminated in ex vivo purging for ovarian fragments. A transformative internship in "Laboratory Animal Medicine and Sciences" facilitated nuanced analyses, including in vivo tests through xenografting treated tissue fragments into SCID mice, unveiling the treatment's impact on ovarian follicles. With each research year, my passion for nanobiotechnology and tissue engineering burgeons, propelling me to continually deepen my understanding and contribute meaningfully to these dynamic fields.
