Fellowships for internationally mobile postdoctoral researchers

In support of the objectives of the European Research Area (ERA), the Special Research Fund (FSR) “FSR postdoc” programme primarily aims to promote the transnational mobility of highly qualified researchers.

In accordance with EURAXESS principles, researchers are selected through a transparent selection process involving, among others, independent experts.

Funding is intended to promote the transnational mobility of highly qualified researchers through the award of postdoctoral fellowships. All fields of research are eligible.

Fellowships for hosting postdoctoral researchers are open to:

 

  experienced researchers who hold a PhD;

  researchers with no more than five years of postdoctoral research experience; 

  internationally mobile researchers who have not resided or carried out their main activity (e.g. work or studies) in Belgium for more than 24 months during the three years preceding the project start date.

Applicants of all nationalities are eligible.

Candidates must also apply for the F.R.S.-FNRS “Research Associate” funding instrument under its Grants and Fellowships call, which opens in the second half of December and closes at the end of January.

Funding includes a tax-exempt postdoctoral fellowship of 12 to 36 months, with the amount determined by the researcher’s experience, as well as civil liability insurance costs, social security contributions and an operating budget.
