Three new master’s degrees in data sciences

Beginning with the 2017-18 academic year, UCL is offering three new master’s programmes in data sciences.

A genuine technical and societal revolution, data science is a fundamental discipline that appeals to a great many students whom UCL is eager to teach via three master’s programmes:

The uniqueness of these programmes is in their offer of a complete education and high quality data scientists across two distinct concentrations (statistics and information technologies, both for which UCL is internationally renowned), allowing for the development of advanced.

Businesses, insurance companies, banks, research firms, hospitals – all of society is affected by the abundance of data to process and by the importance of strategically managing them.

The master’s programmes in data science will produce versatile professionals who, through complementary skills in information science, statistics, mathematics and modelling, will be actors in the transformation sparked by the digital revolution.

In doing so, they will be able to lead in-depth thinking on related decision-making processes.

Regarding the job market, demand currently exceeds the supply for professionals in this sector. Thus it’s a promising field in terms of employment and career prospects, both in Belgium and abroad.

The master’s programmes in data science are organised jointly by the Faculty of Sciences (for statistics) and the Louvain School of Engineering (for information technologies).

With their data management expertise, these two faculties will offer students a solid and cogent education based on international cutting-edge research.
