ISPOLE has 6 new academics in this new academic year of 2023

The academic body of ISPOLE now consists of 27 members. Indeed, these past months have been marked by the arrival of 6 academics, assigned or affiliated to our institute. While some have been able to participate in the ISPOLE research kickoff on October 2 and interact with us, not all had the opportunity. The following lines will help you get to know them. They are not the only ones who have joined the ISPOLE team, as we have also welcomed 12 new researchers this year.
We extend a warm welcome to all of them in our institute!

Stéphane Baele primarily focuses his research on the role of language in political violence and (in)security, from a multidisciplinary perspective, as well as on theories of international relations.

Amandine Orsini works particularly in the environmental sector on the interactions between international regimes, the role of the European Union in international organizations, international ecopolitics, international negotiations, and international political economy.

Olivier Paye is primarily interested in political participation and the production of public action, especially in Belgium and in the fields of social, family, development, and institutional policies.

The research interests of Yannick Vanderborght include, in the field of comparative politics, social policies, unemployment, poverty, and unions. He is long recognized for his work on universal basic income.

The research of Emmanuel Klimis focuses on development aid in fragile states emerging from conflict, a theme that often sends him to the field, in Burkina Faso and the Great Lakes region of Africa.

The work of Thomas Jacobs is at the intersection of European Union studies, discourse studies, and political economy. His research draws on various discourse theories to study the political communication of the European Union on economic (external) policies.
