Reagents provisioning (at cost price), know-how of scientists/technicians on the payroll of the FATH pole and technical support along non-standard Seahorse experiments (see below) imply that collaboration is the only possible mode of work for these experiments. This de facto means co-authorship of both Dr. C. Corbet and Prof. O. Feron on any scientific publications resulting from the use of the system for these specific applications.

The platform is also equipped with conventional laminar flow hood and 5% CO2 incubator to accomodate cell cultures.
Academic prices excl. tax (TVA-BTW may apply differently for UCL and non-UCL users):
Glycolysis stress and Fuel Flex kits: 163 €/kit
Mito stress kit: 109 €/kit
XF96 4-port microplates alone: 89 €/plate (cell plate + cartridge + calibrant)
+ hourly fee = 25 EUR/h
It is mandatory to book the Seahorse analyzer for 3 hours if an experiment using a commercial kit is programmed (in adequation with standard protocols).
Non-academic prices: to be negotiated.
PS: Reservations can not be cancelled from less than 16 hours away from the fixed schedule; users will be fully charged if this rule is not respected.
Non-standard Seahorse experiments
Fatty acid oxidation measurements
- Assessment of the specific activity of electron transport chain complexes (ETC)
in isolated mitochondria
in permeabilized cells
- OCR and ECAR measurements in non-adherent cells (eg. T cells)

User_Agreement_Seahorse_2023.pdf
The IREC Proteomics and Metabolomics core facility hosts a Seahorse XF96 bioenergetic analyzer.
The maintenance of the system is ensured on a yearly basis and training sessions for end-users are regularly organized.
A stock of consumables is made available at a cost defined on the registration website of the core facility.
AGREEMENT
- End users are allowed to operate the Seahorse XF96 bioenergetic analyzer only after having been dully trained by an experienced user affiliated to the Proteomics and Metabolomics core facility.
- Even after initial training, end-users must attend a new training session every year.
- A trained end-user who did not operate the Seahorse XF96 bioenergetic analyzer for a period of time of 3 months (or more) loses the authorization to use the system and must attend a newtraining session before recovering access to the system.
- End-users of the Seahorse XF96 bioenergetic analyzer operate the system under the strict financial responsibility of their Principal Investigator. Any misuse resulting in repair procedures will be fully charged to the said Principal Investigator.
- In case of misuse or misconduct, the Proteomics and Metabolomics core facility reserves the right to revoke the access to a end-user, either for a given period of time or for indefinite time.
- The Principal Investigator agrees to pay an hourly fee and for consumables as described on the registration website of the Proteomics and Metabolomics core facility.
- For non-standard Seahorse measurements (eg, mitochondrial complex activities on permeabilized cells, measurements on non-adherent/immune cells), the Principal Investigator agrees to add the names of Drs C. Corbet and O. Feron as co-authors of any scientific publications exploiting the data.
