Setting up and validating an innovative UPLC-MS method for quantification of oxysterols and bile acids, and application to preclinical and clinical samples
Oxysterols and bile acids are important lipid mediators issued from cholesterol metabolism and controlling a variety of physiological funcions.
Alterations in their levels were shown to be linked with several diseases. It is therefore crucial to be able to quantify them in biological samples. While methods for quantifying oxysterols and bile acids are reported, we still lack a universal method allowing for the sensitive quantification of oxysterols, oxysterol sulfate metabolites and bile acids within a single analytical run.
Our aim is to develop and validate a UPLC-MS/MS method with those characteristics and to apply it to preclinical and clinical samples.
