I work in neuroimaging with the EEG technique to decode how musical rhythms drive brain activity to guide motor production. I also use fNIRS to identify the brain correlates of motor production at different paces.
Understanding how the brain generates and controls the timing dimension of behaviours is crucial to further comprehend the phylogenetic and ontogenetic developments underlying human cognitive processes. In addition to important theoretical implications, this research theme represents a major challenge in a wide range of fields, including the creation of rehabilitation programs for people with impaired timing abilities (e.g., Parkinson's disease) and the development of cooperating robots supporting physical workers.
