The Ecology & Biodiversity Section of the Earth & Life Institute of UCLouvain (Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium) organizes a two-day conference about trends, problems and solutions for biodiversity-issues in our human-dominated world. The conference will present a selection of basic and applied biodiversity-related issues that are frequently addressed by our research teams and in our master program on Organismal Biology & Ecology (Master BOE).
The diversity of life on our planet is facing a major crisis There is a growing concern about the consequences of ongoing declines in the diversity and abundance of living creatures other than Homo sapiens. As for climate change, rapid and significant biodiversity changes cause growing concern in our society. From fundamental studies on the biology of organisms, their physiology and behavior, through studies of their populations and functioning within ecosystems, to eco-evolutionary consequences in the anthropogenic era, scientists around the world are taking part in the understanding of global biodiversity changes.Sound knowledge and insights in these intriguing but complex living systems are required to provide evidence-based knowledge to train students, to update researchers and to inform policymakers.
The program combines invited and accepted talks and posters dealing with the following topics that will form separate sections of the conference program :
- Physiology : Building blocks of ecology ?
- Animal behaviour : Dealing with the environment
- Ecological interactions : From predation to symbiosis
- Global change : Diversity, ecology and evolution
The organizing committee is happy to consider all submitted proposals for talks and posters. All contributions need to be in English. Deadline for abstract submission on 30 March 2022
Deadline for registration on 8 April 2022.
Congress will be organized on site for speakers and optionally remotely for attendants (all dependent of the COVID situation at the time of the congress)
