Excellence scholarships

The scholarship program for excellence in Mathematics and Physics is aimed at students holding a study diploma giving access to the Masters in Mathematical Sciences or Masters in Physical Sciences programs at the UCLouvain. The merit scholarship consists of a study grant of € 1,500 awarded on the basis of an application file and liquidated upon registration for one of the Master programs mentioned above

 

1. Eligibility conditions

Applicants must meet, before the application deadline, the general conditions giving access to the Master 120 in Mathematical Sciences or the Master 120 in Physical Sciences at UCLouvain. A good knowledge of English is ncessary; working knowledgeof French is strongly recommended.

2. Selection of fellows

The jury for awarding merit scholarships is appointed by the offices of the Schools of Mathematics and Physics. It comprises two members chosen from among the permanent members of each of the School councils. The selection of scholarship holders is made on the basis of the excellence of the academic career accomplished and the study project of their cover letter. A letter of recommendation from an academic will also be taken into account in the evaluation of the application. The decisions of the scholarship award committee are final, no appeal is possible.

3. Amount of the scholarship

The study grant of € 1,500 will be paid before December 31 of the year of grant. This funding will only be allocated if the beneficiary provides proof of his / her enrollment in the Master program indicated in his application.

4. Cumulation

Cumulation of the merit scholarship with other scholarships is permitted.

5. Timetable of the selection procedure

Application form uploaded: June 1, 2021

Deadline for receipt of application files: July 5, 2021 at 12 noon.

Announcement of results: from July 24, 2021

6. Application file

The application file must include:

• the application form;

• a detailed curriculum vitae (in English);

• a cover letter ;

• an official document containing the transcripts of the last three years of study (possibly with a translation into French, English or Dutch).

The file in PDF format must be sent, by e-mail only, to the admin office of the school.  In addition, a letter of recommendation from an academic will be sent directly, only by email, to the admin office of the school. The candidate will have to make sure  that the letter of recommendation is sent by the deadline of July 05, 2021 at 12 noon, at the latest No file will be taken into account after this date.
