European Graduate School of Neuroscience (EURON). This international graduate school brings together institutes and departments of seven universities in Belgium (UCLouvain and University of Hasselt), Germany (RWTH Aachen University and Universität Köln), France (Université de Lille), Luxemburg (Université de Luxembourg) and the Netherlands (Maastricht University). EURON is coordinated by the School for Mental Health and Neuroscience (MHeNs) from Maastricht University. EURON aims to share expertise, knowledge and infrastructure to offer PhD students an opportunity broaden their research competencies by offering a training programme consisting of courses and workshops, by stimulating mobility between the partners and through facilitating the organization of joint Doctorates between the partner universities.
Belgian Society for Neuroscience (BSN). The BSN aims at promoting research and education in all fields of neuroscience, from basic to clinical and applied research. Since its inception in 1995, it is composed of about over 200 members of various nationalities working in research centers based or linked to Universities across Belgium, including permanent researchers, post-doctoral fellows and PhD students. The BSN is member of the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS). It organises a national congress every two years and awards travel grants to PhD students attending the FENS forum.
Belgian Brain Council (BBC). The BBC is an association of Belgian agencies and societies for brain and related diseases, part of the European Brain Council. Its missions include promoting brain health, raising awareness of brain disorders, addressing stigmatisation, stimulating brain related research, fostering exchange between different disciplines and associations, promoting prevention and lobbying governments for enhanced research and treatments, in order to improve the quality of life of people affected by brain disorders.
Belgian Neurological Society (BNS). The BNS is a scientific organization open to neurologists, neurologists in training and healthcare professionals with an interest in neurology. It aims to improve the care of patients with neurological disorders through continuous education of its members and by encouraging clinical and translational research.
Louvain Artificial Intelligence for Medicine (LIAM) is a joint initiative of the UCLouvain Health Sector, the Cliniques Universitaires St Luc, the Cliniques CHU UCL-Namur and the ICTeam institute to increase opportunities for collaboration in research and innovation in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and related digital technologies.
Louvain Bionics. Louvain Bionics is a UCLouvain research center created in 2014. It brings together about 30 researchers (engineers, doctors, physiotherapists, neuropsychologists, ethicists and philosophers) to perform interdisciplinary, collaborative research and public outreach activities, building bridges between disciplines within UCLouvain and beyond. Its approach is based on a close connection with UCLouvain’s hospitals network and technological platforms (CREDEM and OpenHub), allowing for a strong interaction between clinicians, researchers, designers and users/patients.
Circle U. The European university alliance Circle U brings together the universities of Oslo, Paris, Aarhus, Berlin Humboldt, Belgrade, Kings College London, Pisa, Vienna and UCLouvain. In 2020 2020, Circle U was selected by the European Commission to be one of 41 alliances of European universities incorporating the "European Universities" initiative.
