La seconde séance du GRICE 2021-2022 accueillera le 28 octobre 2021 Madame Joan Tronto, invitée dans le cadre de son DHC du secteur des Sciences Humaines.
Cet événement, organisé par le GREG (Centre IACCHOS) et le GRICE. se déroulera en deux temps :
De 09h00 à 16h30 – Journée d'étude – Beyond pandemics, new perspectives for care: a dialogue with Joan Tronto (Salle AGOR 11, Grand Place 5, Louvain-La-Neuve).
De 18h30 à 22h00 – Conférence – Can Democratic Caring Save Our Planet ? (Salle AGOR 11).
Résumé
Thinkers often worry whether democratic people can impose upon themselves the changes necessary to stop the serious environmental degradation humans have inflicted upon the earth. This talk will suggest that only if democracies become more caring, and only if they practice caring in democratic ways, might it be possible to effect such radical change. The paper will explore the nature of caring democracy, protection versus care, and how genuinely democratic caring can grow out of caring practices.
