The jury awarded the ICTEAM Best Thesis Award 2022 to Vincent Schellekens for his thesis entitled "Extending the Compressive Statistical Learning Framework: Quantization, Privacy, and Beyond" (supervisor : Laurent Jacques).
The award was granted during the ICTEAM Day on May 25, 2022.
The ICTEAM Thesis Award, which consists of an amount of 2000 €, is granted yearly to the best doctoral thesis that was publicly defended in the course of the previous civil year and for which at least one of the co-directors is officially a member of ICTEAM.
In 2022, the selection committee was chaired by Peter Van Roy. The other members were Axel Legay, Frédéric Crevecoeur, Claude Oestges and Sorin Melinte.
What's doing Vincent today ?
Vincent is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the LFIC lab (Laboratoire Fiabilisation et Intégration Capteurs) from the CEA in Saclay, France. The problem at the core of his research there is that of topology reconstruction of electrical networks (i.e., to determine how many cables are present in the network, their lengths, and how they are wired) from reflectometry measurements (i.e., obtained by recording the response produced at one end of the network when fed by a given electrical signal). Building on his expertise in inverse problems, the main objective of Vincent’s postdoc is to incorporate geometric and spatial information (e.g., as obtained from BIM (Building Information Modeling) procedures) into this reconstruction method.
