New collaboration with the Royal Observatory of Belgium

Ben Neefs, who graduated in 2019 as a master of Geology from the KU Leuven, has been awarded, by the Royal Observatory of Belgium (ROB), a starting grant for the first year of his PhD!

His PhD will deal with the creation of Belgian Intensity Prediction Equations (IPEs) using felt earthquake testimonies.  It is a collaboration project between the Seismology-Gravimetry section of the ROB (under the supervision of Dr Van Noten & Dr. Camelbeeck; seismologie.be) and UCLouvain (under the supervision of Prof. Almeida).

During his master thesis Ben studied the tectonometamorphic structure of the Mesoproterozoic Karagwe-Ankole belt in the Byumba area in Rwanda.

Welcome Ben!
