The Center for Philosophy of Science and Society (CEFISES) at the Université catholique de Louvain (UCLouvain) has launched a new funding programme (travel and accommodation) to host visiting researchers at UCLouvain for a period of approximately one week.
The main aim of the programme is to diversify the research and collaborations of the centre's members. We particularly focus on writing collaborative papers or grant proposals. We also encourage applications that would make it possible to establish collaborations with institutions with which we have not worked in the past. In the same way, we would like to encourage applications from young researchers and post-docs.
The call for applications is now open. If you would like to apply, please submit the following information:
- Name, current affiliation, and a copy of an academic CV (or link to a website)
- Name of a sponsor in the centre (professor, postdoc, or PhD student), as well as a list of members of the centre with whom you could work
- Proposed dates for the visit
- Outline (which can be very short) of the type of work you would like to do at CEFISES - a collaborative article you would like to write, a grant proposal you would like to prepare...
We will try to cover all travel and accommodation costs, but we may only be able to partially fund some researchers.
We encourage applicants to combine our funding with other sources of external funding where possible (and to inform us of these arrangements in their application).
Submission
This request should be submitted by e-mail directly to your sponsor at the Centre. The sponsor will contact you to determine whether the proposal is acceptable. If it is, he or she will submit it to the Centre for competitive evaluation against the other applications. All other things being equal, preference will be given to applications that meet the three aims mentioned above in a clear and concrete manner. You can find your sponsor's contact details on our ‘Team’ page.
CEFISES is a bilingual centre; we would be happy to accept applications from researchers whose working language is French or English.
Special note: CEFISES is committed to supporting researchers displaced or disrupted by the war in Ukraine. We will engage in a special assessment of these proposals as soon as they are received, and will seek to supplement them with local funding and/or logistical support where available. This may also involve a longer than normal duration.
Assessment
Applications will be assessed three times a year (but see note above). Applicants are asked to submit their applications by the deadline corresponding to their desired dates of stay, although these are not absolute requirements.
