Every day, we lie. Out of politeness, to avoid hurting others, or to avoid having to justify ourselves. But for some, life is marked by significant deceptions, ranging from clever scams to pathological manipulations. Used to gain affection, lying is a double-edged sword. And when one is accused, sometimes wrongly, of concealing the truth, the price paid can be as high as one’s life or mental health. .
