FoodWal

Since January, the FoodWal portfolio* has been launched in Wallonia, thanks to a four-year subsidy from the Public Service of Wallonia (Economy, Employment and Research). FoodWal consists of three major projects: MICROBoost, PEPTIBoost and PROTEBoost. The general objective of these projects is to boost disruptive innovation in the food sector in Wallonia, which is the first sector of economic activity in terms of employment and turnover. The focus is respectively put on microbiota, bioactive peptides and alternative microbial proteins. The five universities active in Wallonia (UCLouvain, ULB, ULiège, UMons and UNamur), as well as four accredited research centres (CER, Celabor, Materia Nova and Multitel) and numerous supporting industries are involved in FoodWal. UCLouvain, in addition to its active participation in the MICROboost and PEPTIBoost projects, ensures the coordination of the portfolio, within the LIBST, via its management unit composed of Yvan Larondelle (General coordinator), Aline Ferain (Project Manager Officer) and Hélène Schraverus (Project Liaison Officer - from 15 September on).
