Counterintuitive Typologies
Counterintuitive Typologies aims to contribute to a substantial and culturally engaged architecture of today, directly engaging with the contingencies of material life. It seeks to connect and update epistemologies and policies of
the discipline of architecture in the face of an uneven and imperfect world.
Type and analogical thinking help reframe the ways we think about cultural production and challenge the idea of the work of art as an autonomous entity. The talk will feature selected studio and research work, as well as individual
works from Andreas’ office.
Andreas Lechner is Associate Professor at the Institute of Design and Building Typology at TU Graz and founder of Studio Andreas Lechner, that combines his parallel careers as architect, educator, and writer. Andreas studied at TU
Graz (Günther Domenig, Thom Mayne) and after formative study stays in Los Angeles, trained as an architect living in Berlin, Tokyo, and Vienna.
