The research program "H2M (Hard-w (o-Manage) Children" began in 2004 under the direction of Professor Isabelle Roskam. The aim of this ambitious program is to study the development, evaluation and risk factors of externalized behavior (agitation, opposition, impulsivity, provocation, aggressiveness, disobedience). It also aimed to test the effectiveness of interventions to improve behavior.
Between 2004 and 2017, a longitudinal follow-up of 400 children was carried out to study the evolution of externalized behaviors from early childhood to adolescence. Behavioral development has been linked to several key risk factors, in particular language, executive functioning, attachment and parenting.
Between 2012 and 2016, intervention studies of 300 children targeted these risk factors, particularly parent-child communication, inhibition, social cognition (theory of mind and social information processing), the parents’ self-efficacy beliefs and childrearing practices of emotional regulation.
The H2M program has been the subject of numerous publications.
The H2M program was made possible through research funds.
