Light sheet microscopy combines the resolution of optical sectioning methods (like confocal) with acquisition speed, and is the most suitable technology for rapid 3D imaging of thick samples (made transparent by an optical tissue clearing method).
For example, the photo on the left shows cutaneous nerve fibers (white: autofluorescence; pink, pgp9.5 immunostaining).
