Tova BENSKI is a senior lecturer emerita at the School of Behavioral Sciences, The College of Management – Academic Studies, Rishon Leziyon Israel. Her fields of academic interest and research include: gender, social movements, peace studies, and the sociology of emotions. She has been engaged in research on the Israeli women's peace mobilizations since the late 1980s and has published extensively and presented many papers on these topics. She is the co-author of the book internet and emotions (Routledge 2013), and co-editor of Current Sociology special issue (2013). Presently she is on the Executive Committee of the ISA and served twice as the president of RC48.

Jan Marie FRITZ, Ph.D., Certified Clinical Sociologist (C.C.S), is a Professor at the University of Cincinnati, a Distinguished Visiting Professor at the University of Johannesburg and a Visiting Professor at Taylor’s University (Malaysia). She has just returned from being Fulbright-National Science Foundation Arctic Scholar in Iceland. She is a former Vice President of the International Sociological Association and currently is a member of the Executive Committee of the International Sociological Association (ISA) as well as the lead ISA representative to the United Nations (New York City). She also is a member of the Steering Committee of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s National Environmental Justice Advisory Council, a member of the Mayor of Cincinnati’s Gender Equality Task Force and editor of Springer’s Clinical Sociology book series. She recently was selected as a Fulbright Specialist (consultant) for a four-year term (2021-2025).

Filomin C. GUTIERREZ, PhD, is Professor of Sociology at the University of the Philippines Diliman where she teaches social deviance, sociology of violence, and research methods. She has published on topics of crime, delinquency, history of Philippine criminology, prison gangs, fraternities, masculinity, and violence. Her current research and publications focus on violence and the war on drugs from the perspective of arrested persons and the police. She was a former president of the Philippine Sociological Society and the current vice president for National Associations of the International Sociological Association. She edited the book, Crime and Punishment in the Philippines: Beyond Politics and Spectacle published in 2020 by the Philippine Social Science Council.

Sari HANAFI is currently a Professor of Sociology, Director of Center for Arab and Middle Eastern Studies and Chair of the Islamic Studies program at the American University of Beirut. He is the President of the International Sociological Association. Recently he created the “Portal for Social impact of scientific research in/on the Arab World” (Athar). He was the Vice President of the board of the Arab Council of Social Science. He is as well editor of Idafat: the Arab Journal of Sociology (Arabic). Among his recent books are: The Oxford Handbook of the Sociology of the Middle East, Knowledge Production in the Arab World: The Impossible Promise (with R. Arvanitis). He is the winner of 2014 Abdelhamid Shouman Award and 2015 Kuwait Award for social science. In 2019, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate (Doctor Honoris Causa) of the National University of San Marcos (the first and the leading university in Lima- Peru – established in 1551). Eloísa MARTÍN is an Associate Professor of Sociology at the United Arab Emirates University and Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (on leave until). She is the Vice-president for Publications of International Sociological Association, and the co-chair of SEPHIS Programme. Dr Martin has been elected executive secretary for two terms (2003-2007) and vice-president (2007-2009) of the Association of Social Scientists of Religion in Mercosur (ACSRM), and she was Latin American Board member (2010-2018) and Secretary/Treasurer of the International Sociological Association Research Committee on Sociology of Religion (2014-2018). She was visiting Full Professor at Free University of Berlin (2017-2018), and visiting scholar and lecturer at 30 universities in 25 different countries around the world. Dr Martin has been editor of academic journals for more than two decades. Between 2010-2017 she was the Editor of Current Sociology, when she created and implemented a successful program of Academic Writing for Global South scholars, that increased the presence of non-hegemonic authors in the journal, while tripling the journal´s Impact Factor. This project is currently one of the most important services given by ISA to their members. Currently she is the editor-in-chief of Springer Books Collection Popular Culture, Religion and Society. A Social-Scientific Approach. She has been working on qualitative research in Sociology of Culture for more than 20 years, especially on religion (popular religion and Catholicism in Latin America), popular culture, fandom, and more recently, food studies.

Allison Marie LOCONTO holds a PhD in Sociology from Michigan State University and a MA in International Affairs and Development from the American University in Washington, DC. She is a Senior Research Scientist at the French National Institute for Research on Agriculture, Food and Environment (INRAE) and Deputy Director of the Interdisciplinary Laboratory for Science, Innovation and Society (LISIS). She is also a member of the Doctoral Faculty of the Department of agrarian, food and agro-environmental sciences (DiSAAA) at the University of Pisa (Italy). Her research program focuses on the governance of transitions to sustainable food systems, specifically on the metrics, models, standards, and systems of certification that are part of emerging institutional innovations. Her focus of analysis is on how the responsibility for sustainability in consumption and production is assumed and shared by different actors in food systems at different scales. She has conducted fieldwork on 5 continents but focuses most of her research on food systems in Africa and Latin America. She is on the editorial boards of the International Journal of the Sociology of Agriculture and Food and Frontiers in Sustainable Food Systems: Social Movements, Institutions, and Governance.

Elina OINAS is professor in Sociology at the Swedish School of Social Science at the University of Helsinki, Finland. Currently, the academic year 2021-2022, Elina Oinas is a visiting fellow at Claire Hall at University of Cambridge. Professor Oinas' research deals with gender, health, knowledge, and development. At the moment she works on two collaborative projects dealing with science, societal relevance, location, ideas of good health and body politics: one on Gender Studies in comparative perspective in Ethiopia, South Africa and Finland, and another on a medical vaccine trial in Benin, West Africa, by Scandinavian scientists. The projects are brought together by a focus on different ideas academics have in terms of being meaningful in the world.

Laura OSO is Professor in the Faculty of Sociology at the University of A Coruña, where she coordinates ESOMI (Societies in Motion Research Team). PHD in Sociology from the Université de Paris I-Panthéon Sorbonne, her research work has been mainly oriented towards the study of gender and migration. She has been a consultant for international organisations (OECD, UNESCO, INSTRAW-UN). She is a member of the Board of directors of the IMISCOE- International Migration, Integration and Social Cohesion Network, Vice-president for international activities of the Spanish Federation of Sociology (FES), member of the Executive Committee of the International Sociological Association (ISA), as well as coordinator of the RN27- Regional Network Southern European Societies (European Sociological Association-ESA). She is currently Principal Investigator for the UDC of the European projects (CareWell- JPI-More Years, Better Lives- PCI2021-121924 and WelcomingSpaces-H2020-87095). Geoffrey PLEYERS is FNRS researcher at CriDIS/Iacchos and professor of sociology at the Catholic University of Louvain (UCLouvain, Belgium). He is the vice-president for research of the International Sociological Association and the past president of ISA RC47 “Social movements”. His research focuses on youth, social movements, religion, ecology and Latin America. His main books are “Alter-Globalization. Becoming Actors in the Global Age” (Polity, 2011) and “Movimientos sociales en el siglo XXI” (CLACSO, 2018). His recent articles focus on global sociology and social movements in the pandemic, including “The pandemic is a battlefield. Social movements during the COVID-19 lockdown” (Journal of Civil Society, 2020) and “Global Sociology in the Pandemic” (Global Dialogue, 2020). Together with Breno Bringel, they edited the book “Social movements and politics in the Pandemic” (CLACSO, 2020 & Bristol University Press, 2022).

Bandana PURKAYASTHA is Professor of Sociology and Asian & Asian American Studies at the University of Connecticut, USA. Her current research interests focus on gender and intersectionality, migration and migrants, transnationalism, human rights/human security, and violence and peace The co-edited book (with William Armaline and Davota Silfen Glasberg) on human rights in the US, was awarded the Gordon Hirabayashi book award in 2013 by the Human Rights section of American Sociological Association (ASA). ASA/Asia and Asian American section recognized my work through the Contributions to the Field (career) award in 2016;  and UCONN College of Liberal Arts and Sciences conferred the Research Excellence for social science in 2019.   She was American Sociological Association’s 2019 Jessie Bernard award co-winner “in recognition of scholarly work, inclusive of research teaching, mentoring and service, that has enlarged the horizons of sociology to encompass fully the role of women in society.”

Mounir SAIDANI is Professor of Sociology at the High Institute of Human Sciences, Tunis AL Manar University, Tunisia. He is interested in Socio-anthropology of Culture, Knowledge and Art, Socio-cultural Change in contemporary Tunisia and the Arab World. He published several books and articles in Arabic, French and English in Tunisia and abroad. He also translated books and articles in the field of his interest from French and English into Arabic. One of his latest publications is a 1418 pages Report on the Religious State in Tunisia 2011-2015, a collective work whom he is the general supervisor and the editor in chief. He is leading a multidisciplinary research unit working on “Knowledges, Cultures and Social Change”. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the International Sociological Association. He gave lectures and presentations in A Coruña, Ajman, Ankara, Beirut, Brussels, Doha, Gottingen, Liège, Manama, Oran, Paris, Rabat, Santiago di Compostela, Taipei, Toronto, Tunis. He is the Editor in Chief of the Tunisian Review of Social Sciences edited, since 1964, by the Centre for Economic and Social Studies and Researches (CERES, 1962). He coordinates the XVII ISA PhD Students Lab (September, 2022).

Nazanin Shahrokni is Assistant Professor of Gender and Globalisation and Director of MSc Programme in Gender and Gender Research at the London School of Economics. Nazanin is the author of the award-winning book, Women in Place: The Politics of Gender Segregation in Iran (University of California Press 2020) which offers a gripping inquiry into gender segregation policies and women’s rights in contemporary Iran. Her research interests fall at the intersection of feminist geography, critical policy analysis, and ethnographies of the state. Her publications have appeared in Globalizations, Contemporary Ethnography, Current Sociology, and the Journal of Middle East Women's Studies. Nazanin serves on the Executive Committee of the International Sociological Association and is on the advisory board of Middle East Law and Governance.
