Le Prof. Patrick WILLEMS (FSM & IoNS/COSY) présentera le 5 février un séminaire sur les modes de locomotion terrestre nécessitant une propulsion musculaire.
Ce séminaire (invitation) se déroulera dans l'auditoire Socrate -242, de 12h30 à 13h30 sur le campus de Louvain-en-Woluwe (UCL) et s'inscrit dans le cadre du cycle de séminaires 2015-2016 
organisé par le pôle COSY.
ABSTRACT : Humans use different gaits and/or devices to move on Earth: they walk, run, skate, cycle… The amount of energy consumed varies from one mode of locomotion to the other, first of all because the muscular work done changes but also because the efficiency (i.e. the ability to use this energy) differs. In this lecture, we will first (re-)define the efficiency of exercise in general and of locomotion in particular. Then, we will compare energy expenditure, muscular work, muscular efficiency and mechanical efficiency of gait of four different way of moving on the ground: cycling, walking, running and skating.
