Technical and scientific expertise

  • Provides methodological, technical, and logistical support for the design, development and implementation of experimental setups for human neuroscience studies
  • Reinforces the pooling of technical resources between users, the exchange of best practices, and the documentation of methodologies used by researchers
  • Provides theoretical and practical training in human neuroscience research techniques
  • Monitors methodological, statistical, and technical advances in the field of human neuroscience (including technological developments in equipment) for possible implementation at UCLouvain
  • Contributes to the maintenance and development of human neuroscience research facilities
  • Archives methodological protocol and procedures, software and hardware developments
  • Encourages open research practices regarding experimental protocols and methodologies, including documentation and sharing of experimental protocols and procedures.

Main equipment

  • Electroencephalography amplifier (ANT, NeuroOne, Biosemi)
  • Neuronavigation systems (Visor 2 systems, Polhemus Fastrack, Brain Innovation Zebris)
  • Non-invasive neuromodulation devices (transcranial magnetic stimulation – TMS, transcranial current stimulation – TCS, transcranial focused ultrasound stimulation – TFUS)
  • Hardware for stimulation (visual, auditory, tactile, thermal, etc.) and recording of participants’ behavioral and/or physiological responses
  • Tailored development of devices and testing of new hardware for experimental setups
